Best Electric Skateboard 2023

What are the Best Electric Skateboards in 2023?

I know that the best electric skateboard doesn’t land just in one category and that there are many in the market.

Every e-board manufacturer does their best to design and build what they think is the most suitable for skaters.

To select the right electric skateboards, I have gone through four (4) main aspects:

– The design and accessories (so how it looks).

– Quality of components.

– Overall performance and,

– Market price.

Of course, there would be other factors that you may find necessary to consider, but this is what skaters will usually look at.

Best Cheap Electric Skateboard

There are so many products out there that have been really difficult to select the best cheap electric skateboard.

From what I see and what the public rating is, these are three (3) very competitive ones: Maxfind Max 2, Ownboard Mini KT, and Meepo Mini 2.

From the table above, the three (3) main models are very similar. Let’s see the main points:

The look

It is not hard to say that if I choose one of them for the way they look, I will go with the Maxfind Max 2.

It has an excellent finish, a beach-style sleek design, and a well-carved deck.

On the other hand, the deck seems flexible enough to give you decent comfort while skating.

Quality of components

On the quality of components, both Max 2 and the Meepo Mini 2 are attractive; however, I would be inclined toward the Mini 2.

It seems to have better technology, which provides the e-skater with more riding alternatives.

Regardless of the above, I like the motherboard used in the Max 2 since Hobbywing provides excellent connectivity and responsiveness.

The performance

In terms of performance, the Meepo model seems to deliver better numbers than its direct competitor – higher top speed, better climbing ability, and more carrying weight.

Lastly, the price. I’m surprised that the less exciting model out of the three (3) is the more expensive one. Maybe the inclusion of the led lights makes it appealing.

The verdict

From the models I have listed above, overall, I believe that the Meepo Mini 2 ER version is the best cheap electric skateboard in 2023.

Meepo Mini 2 best budget electric skateboard

As mentioned before, the features and stats this e-skateboard offers to the user are interesting enough for the investment.

I would dare even to say that its performance and quality of components can offer very similar benefits to what the Boosted Board Mini X has.

Best Off Road Electric Skateboard

Another category that is worth discussing is what the best off-road electric skateboard is.

For this topic, I got to say that only electric longboards are made to be off-road since the deck is more suitable to fit wheels bigger than 90 mm.

NOTE

“Off-road” is an electric skateboard that, aside from the usually paved ground, can also be taken onto small to medium size gravels and perform well on wet surfaces.

For me, “all-terrain” means any e-board that includes all of the above and can tackle rough grounds full of root trees, medium to oversize gravels, and clear uneven surfaces.

With a clear difference between the two (2) categories, I have selected three (3) ideal candidates: WowGo 3x, Ownboard W2, and Metroboard X.

Interesting points are seen in this table. At first glance, you might know what e-board is outstanding, but better if we look at the main factors.

The look

From the three (3) above, there is no question that the chick magnet would be the Metroboard X. It is sleek, has great colors, and is badass.

Quality of components

This is a tough one. Every single one has good parts, and the technology used is the minimum expected.

The deck, the battery, and the motherboard have been built using the expertise of known brands; therefore, the whole system delivers what is required.

Nonetheless, I like all the inclusions the Metro Board has. They knew this off-road electric skateboard would be put under a lot of pressure, so having top components was paramount.

The performance

Looking at the numbers, each one delivers. Again, the X model surpasses the other two (2) competitors.

Clearly, introducing a powerful motor could be what all e-skater expect. For this, the performance of the other components needed to be high.

My pick

I’m sure there are so many more models to look at, but based on the users’ thoughts, the above 3 were the shortlisted ones for now.

Metro board X best off road electic skateboard

I guess there is not much to tell after going through the primary 3 aspects above.

I know the deal breaker factor will be the cost, which means you may look elsewhere when thinking about the Metroboard X price.

If you really invest in it, you know that you are paying for a good product without question.

In case you are not able to get to that price point, then the Ownboard Bamboo AT could be the one. Why? The WowGo 3x is excellent too, but the Ownboard model can be fitted with all-terrain wheels. That is a bonus, really.

All in all, from my point of view, the best off-road electric skateboard is the Metro board X model.

Best Mini Electric Skateboard

Maybe not the most popular for top electric skaters that may love speed, but they are a good alternative as a budget electric skateboard.

Mini electric skateboards are, in fact, becoming more attractive among teenagers. Nevertheless, due to their small size, they could be perfect for kids.

As you know, I’m not particularly eager to list low-quality e-boards, so that I will compare the top models in the market: boosted mini x, Exway Wave, and, coming behind, the Neutrino Voyager.

This table shows a clear difference between the three (3) best mini electric skateboards. I guess the way to select one is by reviewing the following factors:

The look

The Wave and the Mini X are very attractive, with well-defined lines and sturdy structures. But I love simplicity, and I think that the Voyager looks good.

The deck is clean, and the fiberglass makes it look betters. In this case, I would be inclined toward the Voyager electric skateboard.

Quality of components

All three (3) models have good references regarding the quality of components used to motorize the board.

I think it is very tight what the Mini X and Wave offer. Regardless, I would go with technology that has been in the market for some time (Hobbywing).

Indeed the FOC ESC used to control the Wave e-board is good, but I haven’t seen any other brand using this tech, so I don’t have much of a reference.

The performance

For the performance side, there are better specs for the Exway Wave Riot than any of the other two (2) e-boards.

I know there is not much difference between them, but the climbing ability and higher speed sound better to me.

The verdict

It is not easy to see a clear brand that stands out from the others. If you are looking for a budget electric skateboard, I’m sure the Neutrino Voyager is a great alternative.

Exway Wave Riot best mini electric skateboard

On the other hand, if you are looking for good performance in a small e-skateboard, the Exway Wave Riot is the one.

And, as I always said, the price is the final point. For all that the Exway Wave offers, I think it will be the best mini electric skateboard in the market for now.

Best All Terrain Electric Skateboard

As mentioned above in the best off-road e-skateboard section, the all-terrain category is different.

Those who love the outdoors and go on harsh terrains should check the following electric longboards: Carbon GTR, Lacroix Nazaré™, and the Ranger X2 from Backfire.

I have listed these three (3) because I love an easy-to-ride e-board. I know there are other ones, like the Hoyt Skate and Bioboards, but they have too much stuff.

It is quite interesting what the table shows, as there is a clear difference with the Lacroix model.

The look

None of them are appealing to me. The GTR and X2 models are actually very similar to each other. The difference is the battery mainly.

As for the Nazaré™ model, it looks like a rally Dakar truck. I guess that is what the brand wanted to inspire – an all-terrain e-board ready for everything.

From those mentioned above, I would say the GTR is the one I would choose from.

Quality of components

I’m not going to lie; the Nazaré™ one has exciting components that make you think they are good quality.

At least, that is what you need to travel at 60km/h (max speed – too high, though).

I like titanium as a material for parts. This is a critical factor for this all-terrain electric longboard. It helps with the overall weight, and also, it is a quality material.

The performance

Undoubtedly, the Lacroix e-board is miles away better than its counterparts. Its components were designed to deliver maximum performance while skating.

The other thing that is impressive is its weight. Wow, it is very heavy, which I reckon is a bummer.

What I think is best.

Perhaps the comparison between the GTR and X2 Ranger e-boards was not fair against the Nazaré™ model. This last one has more power and quality components reflected in the price.

Having said that, from the three (3) models, the Nazaré™ could be the best, but by looking at the Metroboard X (an off-road electric longboard but with the possibility to be all-terrain (compared to above)), it could be a good fit for comparison.

Even though the Board X was built to deliver the best performance for the average e-skater, the Lacroix e-board still has better specs.

I think the specs of the Lacroix model are excellent, but way too much for a safe ride.

If you have the budget and want good performance, go for the Metro Board X; otherwise, I would invest in the Evolve Carbon GTR.

Why?

I think a deck with neutral flexibility is a good option since it will offer a comfortable ride, even on rough terrains.

Best Electric Skateboard Wrap Up

There is no right or wrong in selecting the best alternative to skate on or off the streets.

All land on your preferences – speed, comfort, distance to cover, and accessories. I know that the electric skateboards and longboards listed in each section are, for now, the most appealing ones for me and the general e-skater.

The last thing to keep in mind is investing in safety; just a few dollars more to ensure peace of mind.

Whatever you decide, the best electric skateboard in 2023 should have good-quality components and decent performance.
