Deck Material & Design
Quick market analysis reveals that most skaters prefer wooden decks for their skateboards.
The Maxfind board isn’t made of wood (the older version was, though), yet it nonetheless managed to conquer the hearts of skateboarding enthusiasts.
A glass fiber and polypropylene composite deliver wood-like strength in a lighter, easier-to-handle product.
The stiff deck is built for speed and stability; it weighs only 6.5 kg and is very easy to carry when you feel like walking rather than riding.
Committed to building an innovative travel tool with an old-school skateboard appearance, Maxfind opted for a uni-body design with exclusively built-in components.
A characteristic that makes it IP65-resistant to dust and water.
While it’s not exactly waterproof, it resists splashes, and you can safely use it to get home safely if a downpour inadvertently catches you.
Large enough to provide a comfortable fit, it has a deck length of 81 cm and a 23-cm wheelbase.
A diamond-cut design on the back of the board enhances the aesthetic factor and durability, making it highly visually appealing.
We liked the recyclable and environmentally friendly synthetic sandpaper layer on top of the board. Completely different from traditional sandpaper, it’s anti-skid yet skin-friendly.
It won’t hurt you, but it’s also super-easy to clean.
Overall, this skateboard is highly attractive, resistant, and pleasurable to ride.
Stratus 90 mm Wheels
The Max 2 by Maxfind comes with four (4) Stratus 90mm soft wheels designed to deliver high rolling speed and performance.
Made from selective urethane, they have an excellent ability to grip the road and deliver smooth rides over cracks and bumps.
Indeed, the balanced flex profile of the wheels is soft enough to handle road imperfections while providing excellent grip.
Depending on the skateboard type – the Max 2 comes with either a single or dual motor – you’ll get the wheels in either orange or black.
Single or Dual 500w Hub Motor
As mentioned above, the Maxfind electric skateboard comes with either a single or dual motor; regardless of your choice, we’re talking about a hefty 90mm hub motor that delivers 500-watt solid power (1,000 watts for the dual motor variant).
The honeycomb radial dissipation heat sheet design is a sweet treat, helping dissipate heat in the motor area even when riding at full speed.
Regarding speed, you can expect this bad boy to reach up to 22mph on the dual-motor model.
Sure, that’s not the best top speed out there, but it’s pretty close to it and undoubtedly more than you need to navigate through busy city streets in all peace of mind.
As for the single motor variant, it reaches 18mph – not the best but not the worst either.
NOTE:
Like on any electric skateboard, the speed decreases as the voltage drops. Like most electric vehicles, it rarely reaches the top speed; nonetheless, it’s still a dependable product designed to satisfy the needs of most commuters.
Li-Ion LG Battery
You can only expect an impressive battery on such a unique electric skateboard.
The Maxfind comes with an LG 18650 lithium-ion cell built into the diamond-cut deck.
To understand its performance, know that this is the same quality battery used for Tesla cars.
It boasts intelligent recovery time, has a range of 16.2 miles on a flat surface, and has a rider weighing 70 kg.
It comes with a universal wall charger and restores its stamina in about two (2) hours.
While the built-in design is highly appealing from an aesthetical standpoint, it makes it a bit harder to replace the battery, which has a life cycle of about 1,000 total charges.
Braking Performance
Both motor variants have exceptional braking performance thanks to the highly efficient EBS system.
Even though both motors are suitable, braking assistance will be better over the dual model.
Like a car ABS braking system, it delivers smooth and secure braking even when rolling at full speed. Regenerative and reliable, it comes to an extra-smooth stop at any speed.
Ergonomic Joystick Remote Control
Controlling the Maxfind Max 2 is easy with the ergonomically designed, Bluetooth-enabled remote control.
This small device fits seamlessly in the palm of your hand for a comfortable grip and comes with intuitive controls that allow you to alter the speed, direction, and cruise mode.
One of the best features is the Auto Cruise which lets you lock the rolling speed to a comfortable level.
Incorporating the Cadillac sports car technology, it supports a 2.4/5.8GHz FM dual-band. Super-intuitive to use, thanks to the joystick design.
Maxfind Max 2 Final Verdict
The Max 2 might not be the fastest electric skateboard, but it is a capable and dependable choice.
Eco-savvy skaters will undoubtedly appreciate the choice of materials for the deck, while durability and performance don’t disappoint.
It’s easy to control with the ergonomic remote control and delivers enough torque to take you wherever you want.
Capable of satisfying most budgets, this Maxfind electric skateboard comes in single or dual-hub motor variants; the performance drops slightly on the former, but it’s still satisfying.
Fast and smooth braking, even at top speeds, and the possibility to ride in adverse weather are other two highlights that make this skateboard a winner.
Sure, it’s not perfect. If you’re looking for an energy-efficient and reasonable method of getting around town, the Maxfind Max 2 is one of the best on the market.
