If you’re after an affordable electric longboard with a drop-through deck design, the Teamgee H5 might be the one.

As the code says, the H5 is the fifth generation of electric boards created by the Chinese brand.

Reaching a top speed of 22mph and coming in four (4) attractive colors, it appeals to commuters and weekend enthusiasts looking for adrenaline pumping.

 

 

We know this model is not the fastest e-longboard out there, nor does it have a more extended range, but as an entry-level, it could be an excellent alternative.

Deck Details and Construction

The H5 is one of the best e-longboards for commuters and leisure riders due to its drop-through design that lets you ride closer to the ground.

 

This setup delivers smoother rides on any paved terrain compared to other e-longboards models.

 

The design also gives it a more stable feel, making it a perfect choice for newbies trying a longboard after a break or after dealing with injuries.

 

 

Not only it wont’t drift or wobble around on flat terrains, but this workhorse can also handle hills with up to 20% inclination.

It’s hard not to like the quality of the deck made from 10-ply Canadian maple wood covered in 1-ply fiberglass.

The textured upper layer enhances grip and improves stability even when riding in wetter weather.

Aside from the above, I also like the cruise size, which makes it perfect for most purposes.

Many skaters think of this board be 37″, but this model is actually 38 inches long.

 

Remember:

E-skateboards are generally from 28″ to 32″.

 

My downsides:

Deck: there is one downside I found with the deck. The fact that the battery pack was built inside it makes the board very rigid; that is why its lower center of gravity.

Wheel bites: the design is simple and good but expect to have the wheels touching the side of the deck. This could be a significant issue for the integrity of the wheels in the long run.

 

90 mm PU Wheels

This e-board comes with strong-grip polyurethane (PU) wheels designed to improve stability and sturdy rides on most paved surfaces.

 

Diameter and width

It features large 90mm wheels in diameter and 56 mm width that distributes gravity and improve grip performance.

These features make it easier to tackle challenging situations in all safety.

 

The above characteristics are not the most important factors to consider.

 

Some e-longboard riders think that the diameter and width are the only points they need to know but the durometer side.

The wheels of the H5 are 83A-graded, which makes them medium-soft.

 

With a 9 mm thickness, you will have a firm grip and days to roll.

 

The one thing I don’t like about the rear wheels is the lack of protection for the dual motor (explained below).

This is not ideal if you are thinking about their long-term life, so be careful when riding on harsh terrains.

 

Bearings, core location, and Edges

The brand has also included its own set of bearings. I didn’t see any rolling issues with them, but I’m not entirely convinced with the end quality.

In terms of the front wheel’s core, you can expect them to be centered, meaning the degradation of the contact patch will be evenly done.

Lastly, the edges of the wheels have a square shape, which will add to the general grip of the e-board, but it may not be too good if you want to slide (not designed for that, though).

 

380 W Dual Hub Motors

Power, speed, and carrying Weight

As we advance with our review, the moving core of this e-longboard consists of a dual hub motor that delivers a total of 760 watts of power.

 

 

I think this is enough power to get about 11 miles of autonomy but perhaps not enough to reach the advertised 22mph.

You’ll still get about 18mph, which is still satisfactory enough for an e-longboard of this price (below 500 US dollars) and size.

On the carrying weight side of things, the dual motors will keep up with a total of 100 kg (220 lb). This is an essential factor if you believe your overall weight could compromise your performance.

 

Climbing performance

Adding to the above, I’m also not 100% convinced of the ability to go uphill!

The motor set can only do 20% inclination, which is very poor compared to other models, such as the WowGo 2S Electric Longboard.

As I always say, this point is variable and will depend on many other factors, so don’t judge the quality and your perspective.

Two (2) speed modes (high and low) also allow you to choose between top speed or more extended autonomy.

 

36v Chinese Battery

This electric longboard is fitted with a 3.5 Ah, 36-volt lithium battery.

 

Expect the battery to be fully charged in around 2 hrs.

 

Thanks to a thin, flat design, the manufacturer also incorporated a series of 10 cells (6 per cell) into the board’s deck.

This comes with two (2) advantages:

On the one hand, it makes it feel like a regular longboard despite being electric. On the other hand, it protects the cells from the elements, enhancing their lifespan.

 

Remember that the battery’s mainboard is not waterproof, so you should steer clear of deeper water pools.

 

Braking Power

If there is one thing the brand could have improved is the braking quality.

Considering this is an entry-level model, I’d have expected a smoother, more responsive command; however, it also lands on the motor power.

I think the braking could be a little abrupt, but most importantly, to know there is a delay that you need to consider.

Rolling the wheels backward while giving the command could make the process smoother, but it takes some experimentation to achieve this.

All in all, I wouldn’t call it poor performance, but stopping the rolling board in challenging situations could be a bit tricky for a rookie.

 

H5 Seahorse Remote Control

While it might not have the best braking performance out there, the Chinese brand has impressed with the design of its remote control, the Seahorse.

 

 

Ergo design and features

 

Honestly, this is the first remote control I’ve seen so detailed, comfortable, and sophisticated.

 

Its greatest strength is the digital display, which makes it easy to check your speed, direction, and battery status; there is no need for anything else.

The remote is very simple to use and fits nicely in your hand (this is subjective, though).

You can easily change the speed or direction and stop the engine completely whenever you want.

 

Skater Safety Matters

Adding to the above characteristics, safety is an essential point for the brand.

A LED flashlight adds value, helping you see in the dark (don’t expect a military range, though).

Last but not least is the cruise control feature. I haven’t found this before, which is pretty nice.

You need to reach the speed you want and then double-tap the throttle.

 

NOTES

The Seahorse remote controller is factory coded to operate with your new Teamgee H5 e-board. If you need to get a new one (for any reason), you will need to configure it again.

The remote only displays the speed in km/h.

Don’t get confused with the two (2) battery icons. The left is the control battery, and the right is the e-board itself.

 

Teamgee H5 Review Wrap Up

The H5 is an outstanding affordable entry-level electric longboard to consider.

It might have a low aggressive brake, a small design, and motor downsides, but overall, it delivers excellent value for money.

I mostly appreciate the smoothness of the rides ensured by the drop-through deck.

Quality materials ensure durability, while the battery doesn’t add unnecessary weight.

A dual motor delivers up to 760 watts and sufficient power to reach about 18mph, but the fact that it will not keep up on most minimum topographies makes it a powerful downside.

I don’t believe this would be the right e-longboard for experienced riders (too slow), but it could be good enough for beginners.

For a modestly priced entry unit, this electric longboard offers at least a good option for beginners, including being aesthetically pleasing and easy to carry.
